November Workout Calendar

This month brought on the end of one running program and the start of another.  I'll be doing active.com's 5k to 10 app and then starting a 12-week HALF MARATHON training program!  I'm scared, but excited that something that huge is even in my sight!  I'll still be incorporating yoga and www.bodyrock.tv each week.
There is a lot of traveling in store for the month, so I'm going to have to be extra disciplined.  And then there's Thanksgiving - if I can stick to turkey and veggies, I'll be ok.  Its the appetizers and desserts that ruin me!  I've already proven I've got it in me though!
Here is my calendar for November:

October Workout Calendar

I can't believe September is over!
I only missed one workout all month.  I've been working so hard and my running has really improved.  I've been spending a lot of time taking care of my very sick mama, so I just  needed a day off and a little extra rest.  Honestly, I think the workout would have made it better.
Here's what I plan to do in October.  I'm sure it will be another busy month, but I'm getting addicted to working out!

My 5k for the month is the Komen Race for the Cure.  I have a very dear friend who is battling breast cancer right now. She is SO loved by many that we have a HUGE team running in her honor.  Some will walk, and she will crawl if she has to, but we will all cross that finish line to find a cure and catch it early!  I'm looking forward to the 20th!

I have made some changes to it.  Instead of the Shred, I'm doing the 30-day May Challenge from BodyRock.tv.  I'm in week 3 of the challenge and it is still a challenge!  If I get results anywhere near what other people have gotten I'll be thrilled!
I'm using Hulu to find yoga videos.  I think I've done most of the available videos and I've found my favorites.  I can usually find just the type of yoga I need each Wednesday.
The AT runs are an Intermediate 5k Plan from Active Trainer.  It has been challenging, but I've taken almost 2 minutes off of my mile since I started running!

September Workout Calendar

So, I know we are about halfway through September, but I haven't shared my calendar for the month!

There it is!
I have made some changes to it.  Instead of the Shred, I'm doing the 30-day May Challenge from BodyRock.tv.  I'm loving it because it is so challenging and different every day.  You can't get bored with it because there's something new every time.
I'm using Hulu to find yoga videos.  This week I did a Yoga Zone video for conditioning and stress release.  It was a great sequence of stretches after a tough week of running.
The AT runs are an Intermediate 5k Plan from Active Trainer.  It has been challenging, but my speed and endurance are both up!

I think I'm finally over ear infections/pneumonia/sinus infections/bronchitis/etc.  That has made sticking to my workouts really tough.  I've missed about 5 workouts in the last month.  I guess that isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things.

I am struggling with craving sweets lately.  My friends and I are working on a weekly challenge.  I think sugar free will be a challenge soon!

Goal #3!!!

I FINALLY hit another goal.  I've now lost 15 pounds!!!

Actually, I've lost over 15, I've lost 16!!!

My reward for reaching this goal was new workout gear.  I bought an 8 lb squishy ball, white running skirt, white running tank, pink and black running shorts, and knee socks!  I also treated myself to some new make-up - since I feel prettier and stronger!

I'll wear the white for my Color Run and they won't be white anymore!

It took FOREVER because of vacation, a mission trip, and being sick, but it has been accomplished.  I'm thrilled and rejuvenated!

Here's how it has happened:
* I made a calendar.  I have a set schedule from august-December of what kind of exercise I'll do each day.
*I've re-committed to My Fitness Pal.  This app keeps track of my calories for me.  I can still eat "Whatever I want" but I have to stay in my calorie range.  I don't want to eat "whatever I want" as often anymore because I know how binging can ruin a week!  I still have treats, but my treats are smaller than they used to be.
*Couch-to-5k: I have no started week 9 (the last week!) and I'm loving it!  I actually caught myself saying,"I miss running" while I was sick and couldn't run.  Weird, huh?  I'll be ready for my first 5k in plenty of time!
*Yoga on Hulu - I do this mid-week to stretch out my sore muscles and get that blood flowing to finish the week strong.
* Body Rock - I know that 12 minutes a day does not sound like enough to change you body, but it is!!!  I just started doing this twice a week and I can feel new groups of muscles working that haven't worked in months.  I attribute my 1% body fat loss this week to these amazing workouts.

***THE HARD WORK IS WORTH IT!!!  IF I CAN DO IT - YOU CAN DO IT!***
JUST DO IT!!!

Motivation for you Monday: Commitment

I have been so dedicated to a healthy lifestyle...

until vacation...

and a mission trip...

and I got sick.

Well, vacation has been over for a couple of months, the mission trip was done over a month ago, and I'm almost done with my antibiotics.

It's time.

I made myself sit down this morning and come up with a schedule from today until December 31 of this year.  I am incorporating all of these things:
Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred - again!
Couch-to-5k - 2 weeks left
Yoga on Hulu
Active Trainer 5k Intermediate
5k-to-10k

Here is my calendar for August:

Funky

So, I'm in a funk. I've been so gung-ho lately that I think I've burned myself out.

After doing Day 2 of the advanced version of the Shred, I went to Rock Your Body Studio for a Rock Your Core class and then Dance Trance on Tuesday night. It was so much fun!  But I was so sore the next day.  So sore, in fact, that I couldn't get through Day 3 of the Shred.  Actually, it wasn't even that I was sore.  I think my muscles were all exhausted and my brain was funky.

Here is how I looked after my first dance class in YEARS:

You see, I used to be a pretty good dancer back in the day.  Every time I looked in the mirror at the studio, I saw a klutzy fat girl who didn't know what she was doing.  I was really disappointed in myself because I thought about it too much.  The important thing about that night was that I was MOVING!  I was trying something new that I didn't have the guts 10 pounds ago.

I really have come a long way - I am active WAY more than I have been in a long time and I have lost over 10 pounds.  But I think I just focused too much on how far I still have to go.  Right now, my goal is to lose 4 more pounds and to keep working on getting fewer carbs and more nutrients.  THAT is was I need to FOCUS on!

Today I was still pretty sore, so I decided Shredding would only make me feel bad again.  I found a free yoga video on Hulu and tried that. I did a full hour of yoga and it is just what I needed!  the stretching helped my sore muscles, and I used the quiet time to talk to God about my goals and re-evaluate my motivation for doing all of this.

I've got to live a life worthy of Him!  I think I'm going back to the dance class Thursday and Sunday.  I'll keep up the yoga on days in between.  I'm hoping this will get me out of my funk!

How do other people get out of the funk???
