Christmas Countdown, Day 15

Day 15: Matthew 2:1,16
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem. When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.
Herod knew how powerful Jesus was - and still is!  If there was no threat, then there would be no cause for his reaction.
I really love that the Magi found Jesus with the help of King Herod - further proof that God uses that which is meant for evil for good!  God could have provided another way, but he used King Herod to let Jesus be found by the men who brought him gifts.  This reminds me not to fear evil - God always has a plan.
The Magi realized that the King was evil and they went on to another place.  They didn't let Herod know where He was!  This, of course, sent Herod into a rage and he ordered every baby boy in Bethlehem killed.  He was so afraid of the power of Jesus that he was determined to kill as many people as he had to if it got rid of this baby Jesus.
