Barefoot Running

So, I'm pretty new to the running world, but I've been doing my homework.  I read a lot about barefoot running and decided minimalist running shoes were the right option for me.  I've had problems with shin splints and improper form when I've tried to run in the past, so this just made sense.
These are my running shoes - the New Balance Minimus in gray.  Of course, since I bought them they come in prettier colors.  I'll try something more fun next time.
For the time being, these have been great. I've only had shin splints once since I got them, but that was because I didn't take the rest day I should have taken.  My toes have been a little sore here and there, but it's a good sore.  It tells me that I'm using muscles that have been neglected.
I'm not turning into a granola girl, but I'm starting to understand my body in the way God made it - it's natural form and function.  I want to treat my body the way it was meant to be treated and that is NOT the norm, especially in the USA.

Hello! My name is Kate, and I found your blog by clicking on your comment on flintland.blogspot's page. I was interested because I too am on the same journey, have just started C25K, and am just finishing week three. Then I go here, and I see we have the same shoes...haha I thought we should be friends for sure! :)

Cool! I'm just starting week 7 after a couple of weeks off on a mission trip. I still love my shoes - I had my doubts, but they've been great for me. Good luck with your running! I'll check in on your page.
